I just put on some after market wheels, kept the original tires,  & I watched the guys at Discount tire balance them.  They got them to show zeros on the machine, which is what you want to achieve proper balance.  At 65-70 I start to get a shimmy in the steering wheel.  I did not get this with the stock wheels....I am pretty sure :)  It seems more pronounced on different road surfaces. It definately feels like a balancing problem, but I am not absolutely sure!

The stock wheels are either 5 or 5.5 inches wide & these are 6 inches wide.  I am getting different tires as well, so for now I am gonna wait and see what happens.  The pressure is correct and I have experimented with it as well.  I am wondering if the wider rim has changed the tire characteristics, mainly the sidewall.  Maybe the sidewall is straighter and flexing less, where the narrower rim brought the tire beads inward a little, putting more curve on the sidewalls & allowing more flex for better road absorbtion.  I will see what happens with the new tires.  I am putting on 205/60-14''''''''s which call for a 6" wide rim.  There is always the roadforce balance to try if need be!

                               Thanks!
