kellyrudnick -> 2002 Sonata and Catalytic Converters (7/4/2008 5:51:38 AM)

Hi All, I have a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. I recently took it to a car repair center due to a loss in power. They informed me that the catalytic converters were bad and would need to be replaced. The total cost would be approx. $3000, with 120,000 miles on the car I was not interested. So I have decided to try and make it a DIY project. I have a couple questions…. 1. Are there really 3 catalytic converters on this model? (one of the front three cylinders, one on the rear three cylinders, and one in the back)? 2. The bolts are rusted together and I cannot get them to turn. I have tried hammering on smaller sockets and using WD-40……what is next? 3. Any other suggestions or thoughts?
