My 2002 Santa Fe has developed a pulsing in the brake pedal. We raised all 4 wheels off the ground and noted the right front is the problem. The axle shaft and cv joints hop (wheel removed). It does not appear to be a warped rotor. The rotor appears to run true and the pulse is not felt in the steering wheel as it would normally be from a bad rotor. The cv boots look fine and no odd noise seems to come from the cv joints. The car is not equipped with anti-lock brakes, but does have tone wheels and sensors in the front (no sensors in the rear). I was interested in the tone wheel thread, I thought that might be a clue. Are the tone wheels used for traction control? Problem also appears when braking in reverse (didn''t remember to try in neutral), Any ideas? Thanks!

A warped rotor can be felt in the pedal.  First thing I would do is check the run-out of the rotor with a dial indicator.  Checking with your eye is not accurate.  Then I''d have the CV joint checked if you see it "hopping".  Then have the tune wheel checked.  The tone wheels are used for the Traction Control and the front right one is used for the speedometer.
