Hey guys

Just bought a 1999 Excel sprint twincam auto.  The problem i am having is that when i start the car there is a squeeky noise from under the hood ... usually goes away after the engine has been running for 5-10mins.

Any idea what the hell is going on or a fix.

Oh i am a newbie just drive and no jack about cars

TIA

First item to look at is the drive belt which drives the alternator. It could be loose or just wore out. Once a belt starts slipping, if left to do so for a while, it usually becomes glazed and that ruins your belt. Change it if there''s any doubt. Oh, it probably stops squealing after a few minutes because the battery is now topped-up, because starting takes some charge down and loads the alternator.
