 I am driving 2001 Sonata.

Car is cruising at 4-th gear...

I am releasing the gas pedal and car is coasting, engine’s RPM dropping to 1200.

Car is gradually loosing its speed. Suddenly, I feel short, marcable deceleration. It feels the same as the car is hitting a paddle of water (and I am not touching the brakes). Car is downshifted to 3-d gear during which the ngine RPM briefly jumps to 1600, and then drop back to 1200.  After that car is continuing to coast, but at lower speed.

Then the same sequence happened while tranny is shifting to 2-nd gear, then 1-st gear.

This is is my first Hundai. I used to drive GMs, where you don't feel transmission downshifting.

Is it the way Hyundai operates, or something wrong with my car?

(I have no codes)

Please advise!!
