With the winter weather down here I forgot to check the one biggest thing in gas mileage. I noticed in the past couple of tanks that my mileage had dropped a bit, I figgured the CAI and my lead foot were the culprits. Sort of, I noticed that my tires were looking a bit low but didn't pay much mind to it. Yesterday I finally decided to check it, 22psi in the fronts and about 15 in the rears. A drastic case of low pressure but only the rears looked a little soft. After filling the tires to about 34psi and filling the tank, imagine to my surprise the gas mileage jumped up to where it should be. Don't forget the basics of gas mileage. Tire pressures are the biggest robbers and the easiest thing to correct. Just figured I would let everyone know how dumb I can be...... 15psi?!?!?!

Nauticus, I wouldn't say dumb or stupid but, lets all be honest, there have been times we have ignored our tires. This is as Nauticus states, something so simple yet we do over look them. Very good point!!!! Brant

You would be shocked at the amount of times that I have had a low tire and didn't notice it. Normally I can feel it in the handling, old Accents like my 95 have no power steering, but it is gradual and I am guilty to.

Actually, I would prefer no power steering. I like the feel of the harshness. I may be wrong but, I do tend to believe that PS takes away & hides the feeling. Brant

I couldn't agree with you more. You can feel the road much better without it and this comes in handy when your really tearing it up.

But boy is parrallel parking a pain in the @$$ without it!!! My first vehicle was a 1986 mazda b-2000 pickup, 5spd, extended cab with no power steering!! Try taking your drivers test in that!!!
