I have been advised by my dealership that the drivers side (Aust) rear wheel bearing assembly hub needs replacing. The cost is quite astronmical, but beside the point. I cannot understand how a bearing would need replacing after only doing 91,000 k's.
It seems abit absurd to me, surely a wheel bearing would not need replacing that soon. I have been told that any overloading may affect this, but I do not see this as possible as the vehicle does not have a tow bar and from my knowelge has never carried more than 4 passengers. Could this be a faulty part? I am taking the vehicle to Hyundai tomorrow to be looked into, but any insider info would be of great avantage. I have some basic knowlege of cars, but being a female can be a disadvantage at times.

Kitt,
Bearingsare pretty reliable however, they do wear down over time. Another thing to consider is your driving conditions, this to may effect the longivity. Good luck and let us all know how you made out.

most likely a shoddy bearing slipped thru manufacturing and you happened to be the one who bought it.

Shyt happens.

did you take the car in for a specific complaint regarding tire noise or did they find that bearing while looking for something else???
