All right anyone paying attention to this forum knows I just acquired a '97 Accent GT hatchback. I have also learned it IS a 16 valve DOHC engine. It seems that this is a VERY rare vehicle. I have not been able to locate an ECU for it ANYWHERE. Out of the 40 salvage yards I had MAYBE 2 hits and 1 STILL hasn't gotten back to me the other is $150. New it's anywhere between $450-$900. Can ANYONE out there help me here? I am trying to get this car on the road so that a friend has something to drive until she finds a better car. I'm starting to get desperate here.

Wow, you have a rare find for the good old USA. I have never seen the 16 valve in that year stateside. That little bastard vehicle is a gem. OK, I'm done. As for your dilemma, finding a matching ECU is going to be rough and most salvage yards may try to sell you a regular ECU for too much. Make sure when you go to a yard you act like it is not a rarity and request it like a normal part, so they don't try to screw you. Second, you may not need a matching ECU, I put the 2.0 in my Accent, also a 16 valve and the stock ECU handled the job seemlessly. In which case the ECU's are plentiful and easy on the pocket.

Well it seems everyone tells me the 1.5L DOHC the only comps that will work are the '96 and '97 ones. So far I've been having INCREDIBLE difficulty locating one. Now I'm down to looking outside my state. I have a hit in NC says there are 4 or 5 at locations they are linked to those places being Idaho, Massachusettes, Ohio, and somewhere else I think...
