I have a 1997 Hyundia Tiburon. The engine has gone through alot of abuse (not changin oil, letting run hot for too long, etc.) by the previous owner. The Tiburon is not an FX so I was curious if you could swap out the old 1.8L and put in the FX 2.0L. If so what modification would be needed to do so?

you dont need anything to do the swap. however i would stay with the 1.8 transmission (it is a manual right?). the 1.8 trans is geared lower for more acceleration. also use the 1.8 headers and stock cat. much better flow. ecu's are interchangable. the 1.8 intake cam is also better in the 2.0 if you can do that while its out.

good luck

Does the info on the 1.8L - 2.0L also apply to the elantra?
