is there a fuse? or is it the whole sending unit? when i fill it up it moves towards empty?!! then when the low fuel light comes on it rises to about 1/2 a tank

Had a similar problem on an old ford many years ago, found this was a float problem. Float had a small amount fluid in it, but there was no apparent way that it had got in. Maybe youv'e got the same. Chris.
