I just bought my new Tucson about a week and a half ago and went to go out this morning and the friggin battery was dead! The remote lock/unlock would not work nor would the starter crank the vehicle over! I used my jump box to get it running and took it right out to the dealer to have things checked. They checked the battery which of course showed it needed a charge and they did in fact put it on charge for 45 minutes.

What could have drained the battery already? No lights or anything were left on! The only thing i'm aware of that is an always on thing is the Hyundai alarm system! Could the battery just have been down on charge from sitting on the dealer lot for a while?

I'm hoping this isn't a bad omen or anything!

Wow ... check in your owners manual. They have policies to replace that battery. You have a great warranty like everyone else. There are special procedures to replacing the battery, and as new as your vehicle is, they should replace it. I would have been burning hot and called the toll free number to make them come out and start it. You saved them a trip.

1-800-243-7766 ... This number is actually posted on the driver's side of the car, window is the rear window right beside the center door jam of the Azera. Warranties and roadside assistance is for us to use ... don't hesitate to rely on the program they have provided for us. We paid for this by purchasing their vehicles. Dead batteries are included ... ;)

Fellas, I just heard on another Tucson Board that Hyundai's have terrible alternator charging capabilities, particularly on this model.

Anyone ever hear of this?

Look out if my battery goes dead again! With the vehicle being this new, I would not be happy having anyone tear into it already to replace parts that should have been checked at the factory to ensure they are working as they should!
