We have had our Sonata since early December. We traveled across the country in it during Christmas and noticed the stereo will not load CDs properly. We constantly get a load error. While in late January, we took the car into the dealership for some minor adjustments and had them check the stereo. We were told the stereo is fine, it just won't load certain burned CDs. Well, I tried a few various burned CDs at the dealership and not one worked. The technician then said it played regular store bought CDs perfectly. I put three of those in one at a time and none of them worked. They decided it was in the best interest to order me a new stereo unit. Well it is going on two months now, and no word. The parts guy says there is no way to know when it is coming. They can only call me when it arrives. What kind of crap is that? I am just venting, but when is enough enough? Is the Lemon Law in my future? What else can be done to see to it that this doesn't go on for months?

I feel for you especially since my Sonata is just as news as yours. Bought in Jan of '06. I have burned several mp3 discs with over 140 songs on them and they play fine...knock on wood. Heck if I were you, they other person had some good advice. bug the crap out of them and make them take one out of a Sonata on the floor or on the lot to meet the warranty specs. You should not have to wait like that and it is ridiculous to leave you hangin'. How simple is it to say...look, how many Sonata's do you get and sell every day? Take my piece of crap stereo out and put in a working stereo system and you can wait for the replacement. Make sure they do this for free cuz I believe the warranty covers defective interior components like the stereo, seats, moonroof, etc for 3 years.

Live near Boulder, Colorado. Yes, thank you both. I will start bothering them about it, but I do like the service folks there.

Cruise control is not the same as a stereo. Not even close. For goodness sakes, hardly anyone uses cruise control on a daily basis. OK, so long do you wait Malik?

Contact Hyundai USA! They are very interested in dealerships that won't keep up the good work. No excuses ... they want to know about this kind of treatment. Always fill out and return the questionnaires either online or by mail that Hyundai USA sends you. They are very concerned that you are treated right and that your car performs correctly.

I had a similar problem with CD's I burned that would not play in other cars. In my case it turned out to be certain brands of CD's just would not work for some reason. I have been using either TDK or Sony discs and have not had a problem since.
