Hello Everyone,

I am new here, and need a bit of assistance. My son and I are going to upgrade my stereo and try to fix a broken power window motor in my 2000 Elantra.

We have taken the screws out around the edge of the door, as well as the screw in the release handle, the power window controls, the clips on the bottom and the screw in the arm rest. But for some reason, we still can't get the panel off. What's the trick to get loose around the release handle? We're missing step there.....

Thanks for your help.

Judy

if this is like any other car made. you can take out the release handle trim and see if there is another screw (which i doubt there is) but there may be a clip in there. Also there is like an edge along where the window seal is that hooks the panel on the door frame and seals the window. Or there are two little rods that connect the handle to the door opener latch and a rod that connects the lock to the locking mechanism in the door jam. those rods have to be taken off the handle and lock in order to get the door off. hope that helps. if you get it off let me know, i would like to know what it was.

once you have removed the screw for the door handle .push the door handle forwards and it should pop out of its 3 square shaped holes then release the clips holding the lock and release cables then you should be able to pull the door trim off and up.
