if your motor has still got warranty and you have not modified the engine there is no reason why your dealer should refuse to fix it. sounds like they are givin you the brush off imo.. where in the world are you????

SWH,

WHat's the story? Most dealers do not deny warranty without a good cause. Oil pressure issues are usually only caused by a non-Hyundai oil filter (there is a bulletin for this), or a failed oil pump. I would like to know what happend and why the dealership came to the conclusion they did.

How can an engine get too much oil pressure unless something did go wrong with the oil pump in which they should replace because of the warranty? And how can they blame you unless it was a wrong oil filter on the car?I would definitely want more of an explanation from them that the one they gave "for some reason" it blew and it was your fault.

Yeah... there is a TSB out on aftermarket filters. I understand Fram no longer lists many Hyundai applications. If you went to an oil change place and they put a Fram filter on, they are the ones that are liable (for using the wrong filter). Find out what filter is on there, and check an application book (at a store where you can buy that brand of filter) to see whether they list your car as an application for that filter. If not, then whoever put that filter on is at fault.

Well!!! I was just about to fit a FRAM oil filter to my 1.8l twin cam 16v 1994 Elantra (Lantra) when I saw this post. What is wrong with FRAM filetrs?
