Tiburon Transmission Probs

Hey everyone!
I have a '99 Tib with about 125k miles. Recently, I have had auto transmission probs. It will go into 1st gear, but stalls when you try to go out of 1st. And it won't go into reverse. I have heard that I could need a new tran., but some "experts" are saying that if I did need a new one, then it wouldn't even go into 1st. And some think it may need a synchronizer (??). Has anyone else had probs? Or does anyone think they know what the prob is? The nearest dealership is 150 miles away and I can't get my car there in 1st gear. LOL!

Hi ya Mibella....First I would Find a reputable Garage with good mechanics...Sounds to me like the trans has solonoid shift issuses, ei: bad fluid pressure caused by stuck shift solonoids or a bad front pump ..........either way you'll be forking out a little bit of money for someone to properly diagnose the problem, Ocassionally some transmission shops include the diag time with repair , but on that note if they come right back and just say you need a new trans......dont be afraid to get a second opinion......it's well worth it and save ya a major headache and wallet ache
