Well, it's official! My Accent will have its third crankshaft position sensor as of tomorrow. 85K miles on the car now, 55K on it the first time. Maybe our friends at Hyundai should consider redesigning them? But, hey, it is a source of continuing income....Sorry for the rant but with gas at $3.20 a gallon around here driving that heavy 3/4 ton pickup to work is really draining the wallet! Like $60 per week for a 28 mile per day commute. Oh well, it will be good to have the Accent back, it's a blast to drive.

It would crank but would not start at times. I would sound like it wanted to start for the first couple of times over then just crank and crank with no further action. The symptoms were intermittent for about 1000 miles, then it finally died for good. I find it puzzling that this kind of part should have an intermittent failure mode, but it did the same thing both times it failed. When it first started to fail, it would usually start right up after sitting for a few hours. As it got worse, the recovery time got longer. I was stranded at my job one day. Got a ride in the next morning and it started right up! It is very aggravating having a vehicle that "mostly" runs but you just can't trust it to go anywhere...I am going to buy an extra one this time and replace it as soon as the symptoms return, maybe another 30,000 miles?
