Hey, I have a stick 98' ( same as 99's), and I love it. I did have to have some work done on the transmission when there was about 155 000kms on it, but other then that, not any major problems. It had the tranny problems when I bought it, so who knows how hard.... I should say bad the first owner drove it?? Because Tiburon's can be driven hard, a friend of our's Dad used to own a Hyundai dealership, and he said he never had any of the 2.0L engines come in for any major work( ie. pistons, rings, crank etc.) My husband used to have a 97', and now has a 2000, his car has 200 000kms on it, and he hasn't/didn't have any major problems with either of them. My OEM breaks lasted about 160 000km, which I would say is great. They get great gas mileage, especially if you put a cold air intake on, which is cheap, and increases HP. So I would say they are fairly reliable. Later, Stacey
