We have a 06 LX just turned a year with 10k on it and we have never got over 20.7 mpg on it, it is a big disapointment over our previous 02 LX it avg. 27 mpg. The dealer can not find anything wrong with the engine, and tries to pass it off as bad gas or topping it off, or Me as a Hayseed. Duh!!

I have a journey of about 3 miles at 40 mph, 40 miles at 75-80 mph, 2 miles at 30 mph each way. I average 28.5 - 29.5 mpg. Resetting the trip computer for the 40 mile section has given as much as 34 mpg at 65 mph. This is in an '08 2.4L.

Everyone, I have an 06 Sonata GLS v6, my mileage varies from 26-34, if you want good mileage, this is what I do, do this at your own risk: 1. Accelerate really slow, I like to hit around 2k RPM''''s on the on ramps you have to give more. 2. Coast as much as you can, if you come up to a red light or off ramp, I put it in neautral and coast and then put it in drive when I''''m ready to accelerate, this helps a little. 3. I try to cycle the AC off and on, it will take about 2-3 MPG from your mileage, on the freeway after filling up I can turn the AC on and watch it read 32 at 60, shut if off and immediately it starts going up. 4. Stop driving on the freeway like its a DRAG way, ACCELERATING just wastes fuel, set the cruise and stay there, I set mine to 60 MPH, If im in a hurry i will go faster but I try to avoid anything over 75 MPH. On the interstate, play with this one day, reset your fuel computer do 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80 and you will see what you get. I can get a MINIMUM of 30 MPG highway driving liberally, driving at 60 MPH if I''''m going 70 miles to destination it will take 10 minutes longer to get there, big whoop I just set the cruise, slouch down and relax, no need to worry about passing people, speeding tickets or changing lanes. One thing I noticed too, I do get followers behind me in cars and picks up that do 60 like me when the speed limit is 70.
