I have a brand new Sonata, and I was driving in this lane in my neighborhood that is wide enough to accomdate two cars, with one car going straight and the other turning right. Anyway, today was one of the few days that I stopped in that lane without really knowing for sure if I left enough room for the cars that turn right. And so I'm just waiting for the light to turn green, and then suddenly I see this big Buick driving right next to me even though it was a really tight squeeze. I kinda panicked in my body because I wasn't expecting it, and the guy/girl turned and I didn't even get to write down a license number just in case he/she hit me. So my life with my car flashed before my eyes at the moment even though I'm still unsure of whether he hit me or not. What do you guys think? Would I have heard/felt it if he had hit me in ANY way? He was going slow and I was stopped, and I had so little control. I may not have been far enough over in the lane to accomodate this guys impulsive manuever. I get so nervous on the road with people who don't have newer cars because they could ram into something at any moment with every intention of getting away with it because they don't care about their cars. I care about mine, I just got it and now I'm afraid it has been ruined by somebody who didn't care enough to make sure he had room to make that move. Even if he didn't hit me, how do I know this? The car is gray which is hard to pick up scratches right off the bat.. but I don't want any flaws on my car this soon. What should I look for? The car was going slow, and came right up to me with his car.. i didn't hear anything or feel anything, but he came up so fast I don't think I even know what happened. It's really scary. Usually, I stay close to the yellow line to try to accomodate the cars that turn right, but most people will stay behind me even if they are going right. Only the boldest of bold will actually attempt what this guy attempted, and it's all rainy out and I can't check my car for damage. What should I do if there is damage? What should I expect to see if he did hit me? Am I being paranoid at all? I just have no depth perception on top of it all, and I want to believe that anybody cares enough about their own cars to make smart choices on the road, but who knows anymore? If I were hit, is there a place on my car that I would especially expect to see damage? Also, this guy turned right, isn't it really risky to turn right when somebody is parked so close to you? I know I have trouble turning right even when cars are in completely separate lanes. I'm really losing my cool, my car is too new for this, but I also don't really have any proof yet that he hit me. Asking you guys is the next best thing for me to do until I can examine my car. I knew I made a huge mistake buying a new car. I'm too tense for it.. LOL.. I will be jinxed for life by all the close calls I seem to keep having. I miss my old car.. and I miss my money!!! PLEASE HELP!

Is there a dent or scrape mark all the way down the side? Is your mirror missing? If not, chill out ... if so, call the insurance company. File a police report anyway if it is damaged.

If you were hit in the side, the SIDE AIRBAG will go off.

No airbag ... I think you might be A-okay.
