RE: wiper blades

Instead of trying to raise the arm while it is in the parked position, as the blade sweeps down, turn off the ignition. It will stop slightly up on the windshield higher than when it is parked. Now you will be able to raise it and clean the blade or window underneath.  The design of the blade is for aerodynamics and eliminating possible wind noise from the blade being up over the hood. Not a design flaw at all.  Do not raise the arm up from the factory default. This solution is so much simpler by simply turning off the ignition when the blade is on its downward sweep.

Wow.  Just..... wow.  I was at the dealer today getting my Elantra serviced and checked out an Azera.  I can't believe that wiper got by the design guys.  Just wow.

Uhh,  so they were only interested in reducing the noise from the passenger side wiper blade ??  I think you are giving them a little too much credit here.

Who ever siad that it was a feature of the car..see what Hyundai says:

Alternatively, you can replace the windshield
wiper blade as follows.
1. Turn the ignition switch "ON" and
place the windshield wiper switch to
the "LO" position. Turn the ignition
switch "OFF" when the windshield
wiper is in the fully up position. The
windshield wiper will stop as illustrated.
2. Replace the wiper blade as described
in the section of the driver's
side replacement.

From the 2006 owners manual. Not all cars just lift up. Esecially ones that have arms that are partially hidden. Do you like thecar? If you do, stop complaining about every little thing that you 'think' the car should be. You bought it as it stands. Now apparent problems like the clunking, etc are things to complain or discuss.

There is a lot of good information to get from these forums, but it is increasingly difficult to listen to the unjustified whining - from many people.

Good luck and I really hope you are enjoying your car - it is really a good one.

I love my Azera, it is a great car. That is why we are amazed that they designed a wiper that lifts up and hits your hood. We strive for perfection !!!  This problem is not just about replacing a blade, this is every time you clean the windshield.

And if it weren't for whining, there would be no forums...

07azera -> RE: wiper blades (5/21/2007 10:30:35 PM)

Don't worry about wind  noise, it won't happen.

I raised my wiper arm about an inch when I first got the Azera four weeks ago and it solved the  clearance problem and it didn't cause any wind noise.  Now it is a breeze, no pun intended, to clean the windshield.  And yes, I believe it is a design flaw, but one that we Yankees know how to solve.  Viva  la Yankee ingenuity.

I don't consider posting problems on a forum, whining.  It is common sense.  Like what was already posted just previously, that's what forums are for.  Support, support, support.

My purpose for participating in forums, of which I belong to several Hyundai and one Cobra) is to not read about what I already know, but to find out what I don't know and how to solve problems, no matter how slight.  I also enjoy posting solutions if I have one.

Personally, I love personal projects and these forums give me one every once in a while and usually for little or no money outlay.

I have never purchased a "Perfect" automobile and I doubt that I ever will, at least I hope not.  I enjoy fixing things.  I guess I have the "Tim the Tool Man Taylor" syndrome.  I DO NOT subscribe to the theory, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Does whining about people whining still considered whining ??

07azera -> RE: wiper blades (5/22/2007 10:31:18 PM)

I believe that equation relates to "whining to the infinite power".

Doohickie -> RE: wiper blades (5/23/2007 6:37:28 AM)

Bottom line.... if it bothers you, move the arm.  If it doesn't bother you, let it be.  Either way, everyone can find a reason to be happy.

Right?

craziefro -> RE: wiper blades (8/14/2007 10:39:02 AM)

Just turn off the car when the wipers are parallel to the car as a whole, or purpendictular to the hood.
