Hello I hope someone can help..I have a 1992 hyundai excel, standard shift, Fuel Inj., 4 cylinder...the car runs fine but after I turn it off, if the car is still warm, and i go to restart the car,it revs up really high and idles high like you are stepping on the gas..this only happens when engine is still warm .Also, the RPM gauge does not show a higher RPM registering...it sounds like its reved up to 3000 RPM..any help? The car does NOT do this upon a COLD start up..thanks~please email: RNhib@Copper.net

Sounds like your engine is "Dieseling" or having run-on issues. I've had this happen on a couple of older cars (never fuel injected). Typically, you timing should be adjusted and the engine has a lot of carbon in it. Also, your engine might be running too hot. I'd do a full tune up replacing the plugs, wires, and adjusting the timing as well as a full engine/fuel system flush to get the carbon out. Then, I'd flush the radiator out good and check the thermostat because a hot engine can cause that as well. My old F-150 had a problem with this, and once I took the above steps, she ran smoothly again. Being a '92, your car is going to need it anyway and you'll get a little better mileage out of it.

Good luck.
