2006 Santa Fe 2.7L Transmission Problem

I have a 06 2.7L Auto. The auto is starting to have a problem. Car has 5000km. When slowing down for an intersection as you nealy come to a stop the car is kicking back into 1st gear hard which is noticeable now when it wasnt before. Otherwise the auto is great in it. Very smooth changes.
Anyone else had this problem ?

I havent had a problem yet on mine. i have 620MI on mine. But is the engine really warm when it does it? Out old Accent did that same thing, and it would KLANK really loud while shifting when its engine was really warm from a long drive.

One word.

WARRANTY!!!

Have an update with the auto problem. Been back to my local dealer. The mechanic was able to replicate the problem i was having. When taking off the car changed from 1st into 2nd gear if you were to apply the bracks quickly it would thump back into second. The dealer had not seen this before and had another customers santa fe there and was able to replicate the fault in it as well. They have been in contact with hyundai and they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution. Looks like it is a software problem with the fuzzy logic computer for the auto box. They reset the computer so it was back to factory and see how it goes. Most likely the problem will come back as the computer learns again. Hopefully the update will be available soon.

Have an update on the problem. All fixed. Had a call from our local dealer and said that Hyundai had shipped over a new computer that they wanted to install for us to try. This is the first car they were putting this update in to see if it was all sorted out.
The new computer had some update on it which should fix the problem.
Well after about 2500km in it the problem has now vanished. Car is driving well. It has a great smooth gearbox in these cars. Very impressed with hyundai coming up with a solution. [:)]

I have an '04 with the 3.5L and it has the same problem, a lurch when stopped or almost stopped. Scares the heck out of my wife!  Did the tech say this might occur in older models?

Hi Cavallino,
I don't know if the older models are having this issue. Hyundai in Australia are going to do software updates for the 06 models when they are serviced. We have not had an issue since the update. Would be worth while asking Hyundai about it. They may have an update for your model. [:)]
