The noise in my Azera is/was not injector noise. I can recognize the injector noise in addition to the abnormal one. My dealer said it was due to the timing belt tensioner. There is a service bulletin about early models, but it said the noise was not harmful and only on cold startup. Anyway they said it would fix my noise but it would take three days to pull the engine and fix it. I reluctantly agreed, partly because I kept bitching about it every service visit, and it did bother me, a lot. TWO weeks later, after claiming they had to backorder an engine mount, the car was returned to me. I had it one day and found oil on my garage floor. Took it back today and they now say one of the valve cover gaskets was damaged in the repair process. Now they will have it until "maybe Monday", because they have to order the gasket. I don't know what company takes 3 days to get a part, you can overnight anything to anywhere now. I think they are afraid to tell me it takes that much time to fix it. Thankfully I have a Sonata loaner, so I am not without a car. But I have lost confidence in my dealers repair department. By the way, the Sonata is very nice to drive, and actually has a more precise steering feel than the Azera. The Azera is a much smoother ride and of course much bigger all around.

The Azera has a 3.8 liter that has an internal timing chain. Unles you have the 2.7 V6, that has the timing belt, you have a chaint tensioner. If the dealer said it is a belt tensioner...no wonder they can't fix it since they are looking for a belt tensioner that is not there rather than a chain tensioner. Did they mean the serpentine belt tensioner? That's external and does not require engine removal. Seems like your dealer is using your car as an OJT project for their mechanics.
