WARNING !! WARNING !! WARNING !! WARNING !! WARNING !! WARNING !! WARNING !!

I believe 100% that HYUNDAI has lied to me and ALL other HYUNDAI Owners when they put a MPG Sticker on their NEW ELANTRA GLS Cars stating the Car will get 27 MPG around town driving and 37 MPG Driving on Freeways ..

I ONLY get just 20 MPG. what a piece of CRAP !

WARNING !! your passenger must weigh 90+ Lbs. to Activate the Passenger Air Bag Sensor ,, I learned this fact only AFTER I bought and Owned my 2006 Elantra for 3 weeks .

The SALESMAN LIED !! to me and told me the weight limit was ONLY 50+ Lbs.

I've averaged 26.5 mpg since Day 1 and have gotten as much as 35 on longer trips.

As for the passenger air bag, it is not a science; there is significant variability from car to car and depending how the person sits in the seat. Generally mine behaves, but I've noticed on longer trips, if my son is sleeping in the seat and not sitting in it properly, the Air Bag Off light comes and goes. It is definitely Hyundai's problem as they built the car, but frankly many automakers are having problems with the recently federally mandated Occupant Classification Systems that determine whether to turn off the air bag for a small passenger/empty seat.

hey, my 03 gets a steady 34-36 mpg's on the highway. 100,000 miles runs like a top. I installed a K&N air filter to increase 2 mpg's. I drive alot. Do what you want, anyone who ways 50 lbs might consider sitting in the back, frontal air bags could hurt a 50 lb person. But it does sound like the salesman misrepresented the car.

On the bottom of that window sticker below the fuel mileage it states "EPA Estimates. Your mileage will vary". Keep in mind on how you drive your vehicle. My folks bought a G6 GT sedan and the tires were only inflated to 20psi - so check that out for starters.

I'll take your 20mpg in exchange for my 10.8mpg
