mitt -> 30,000 mile service question (2/27/2007 10:20:07 PM)

Hello, I'm new to this forum and I have a question about the 30,000 mile service.Hyundai dealership wants $ 500.00 + for this service.  If I have part of this work done by a mechanic other than the dealership, will this jeopardize the warranty in any way?  Do you think the warranty people will be too picky about some of the work being done elsewhere?  Thanks for your comments.   Rick

You can go to any qualified repair place like Firestone or Meineke and they will print out what your car needs at the 30,000 mile interval and im betting it be a whole lot cheaper than the dealership.Just make sure you save the paperwork on what was changed and serviced in case you need warranty work in the future and they want to see your maintenance records.

As long as you have some proof that the work was done that is all that is necessary to keep your warranty valid. Read the warranty agreement.

Moonz has got it down pat, i called my Sonata Mechanic and he said to document with the work orders and you will be alright!

 Just remember when servicing that transmission using any other fluid other than sp3 will effect the warranty on the transmission.

Yes, if you're doing an AT service, you MUST use SP-III.  Anything else will fry your AT.  Also, be careful about oil filters; some filters fit but do not have the correct internal valves.  Obviously Hyundai OEM filters are okay, and I've heard Purolator is good, but I've heard of people having problems when using Fram filters (resulting in oil starvation and engine failure).

Ive also heard the same thing about the Fram Filters, who would think that the biggest name in oil filters wouldn't work correct on our Hyundai cars:
