Does anyone know how much oil should be used for an oil and filter change on a Hyundai 3.8 V-6 engine ?

The owners book states 5.49 quarts of oil. The dealer puts in 6 quarts when changing oil.
The dipstick shows 1/2 inch above full after the dealer changes oil.

No one at the dealer seems to really know what to do.

Do you know for sure ??

empty used oil, change the oil filter and start by emptying 41/2 quarts, start the car for about two minutes, then turn ignition off and wait for 2-3 minutes. add oil until desired mark on dip stick is reached. then note how much oil was put in. containers have gradations on them so one can tell how much of the container was emptied into the car

I changed my sonata 3.3 v.6 and put in 5.4 like car manual said and that was about 1/4 inch above full mark. A few days later I called the dealer and she told me the book was wrong and that er put in 5qts. when changing oil. She also said that little bit extra would not hurt anything.
