Hey Guys,

I just bought a 2005 Hyundai Accent with 14000 miles on it.  I traded in my Honda Civic (46100 miles on it) that had transmission problems.  Owned the Honda for all of five months before it nearly left me stranded on a busy intersection.  I went to the dealership three times explaining the problem, yet they couldn't find what was wrong with it.  I guess the bright yellow "engine" symbol wasn't a clue.  So, out with the Honda, in with the Hyundai.  I'm looking forward to email and posts from other Hyundai owners of their experiences with their cars.

Welcome......hope you're pleased with the Hyundai and ask questions when something comes up you are concerned about.

A tip, if the Accent has an automatic trans:  ONLY use SP-III transmission fluid in it.  It is not generally available in most auto parts stores; you usually have to get it at a Kia, Hyunai or Mitsubishi dealer.  The transmissions on Hyundais are pretty good, provided you maintain them properly.

Most shops like to use a synthetic that is "universal" but every AT failure I've heard about in a Hyundai came from either not changing the fluid at all, or changing it and using the wrong stuff.

Just a little tip.  Other than that, enjoy your Accent!

Hey Thanks, Doohickie !  I'll keep that in mind when its time for her tranny flush.

I took the Lil Accent out on the road today.  Just put 100 miles on her to get a feel for it and it rides great !!  I have to take pics of her and upload them to share.

I have a warranty from the dealership in case of any problems.  I didn't get the extended warranty (salesman wasn't too happy with that).  Didn't think I needed the extended.

I'm takin' her to work tomorrow...let's see how it goes.

You still have the remander of the 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty as well.  That transfers to subsequent owners.  The 10 year, 100,000 powertrain warranty, though, only applies to the first owner.  So you still have a lot of warranty left.

Right now I have the 30 day/1000 mile warranty from the dealer as well as the 5yr/60k one.  I could have purchased the extended warranty, but didn't feel it would be necessary.  I'm hoping to "trade up" in a few years for another Hyundai.

Took her to work today and everything went well.  My only minor complaint is that I don't have a trunk release inside the car and the interior is very small.  But, she handles like a dream.  I hope I have better luck with her than I had with my Civic.
