tandrade -> suspension noises (4/3/2007 9:43:13 PM)

i have a 2007 azera which we like very much. the one thing, and only thing that i don't like about it is the "clunky" suspension noises whenever you ride over small bumps, depressions in the road, cracks in the road etc. it is a very annoying noise in a brand new car that has 1500 miles on it. do all you other azera owners hear the same noises ??

Are you familier with the ride that 17" wheels will give you?  The lower profile tires that are typically used on the larger size wheels will absorb less than a tire mounted on a smaller wheel with a higher (taller) profile, consequentially resulting in you feeling every little crack in the road.

Many Azera owners have reported this same noise.  It is known as a 'clunk" but I think it is more of a suspension rattle.  Sounds like something is loose in the front suspension.  I have  had the Dealer look at my 06 two times with no  change in the noise.  I have been under my car too and tightened many bolts but no success either.  Azera SE owners with the 16 inch wheels have reported the same problem.  It is NOT the 17 inch wheels.

After learning that there was a new part number for the struts and the old number discontinued, I mentioned this to my dealer when bringing it in for service and they ended up changing the right front strut tower...  I still have the clunk though... Its only happens once in a while when backing up with the wheel turned to the right all the way and the front wheels going over a bump.

I have an 07 Azera that  I purchased four weeks ago.  It has 16" wheels and also has the clunk when hitting potholes and larger than normal bumps and imperfections.

To me, it sounds as though it is coming from the rear.

It can get a little irritating at times.  If I had a lift, I think I could eventually find it.  Actually, the car probably should have all of its weight on the wheels to find it.
