Has anyone put headers on their 2004 2.7 V6 GT. I bought OBX racing headers(Forza Tuning) about a year ago and havn't put them on yet because I've heard that they will cause some problems due to emissions and the fact that im not sure if i need to go get a high flow cat or what.......any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Well in my opinion headers suck, i put a DC sports header on a civic i owned, the header was top of the line and the engine started to have an odd problem, i took it off and the problem persisted, since then i have advised everyone who asks me against them. ON ANY CAR. But it's ur car so if u wanna take a chance go ahead.

I had a 79 Chevy Scottsdale with a 350 in it back in high school. The thing has basically no emission besides a catalytic converter. Back in the day, you could throw on a set of headers and dual exhausts and the thing would run like a scalded ape.

These days with the heavy emission control, you'd have to know what you're doing to bypass or work with the emissions system. Unless the manufacturer has worked out the kinks, I'd be leary to mess with that stuff, too. I agree with 03TIB. You may just open up a hornet's nest of problems unless the emissions stuff is worked out too.

I sell OBX products, have a wholesale license through them.
The headers you are referrring to are 50 state legal. They delete the cataytic converter, but an O2 sensor still takes a reading from the rear cat..
Put em on man, you'll notice a LARGE difference in performance on your 2.7. You will feel and hear the difference.

just be careful when eliminating a cat when installing headers. unless you have a two chamber or a very high quality muffler, the sound you get could be more of an anoyance then anything. i put headers on my 01, grantit its a 4 banger, but i had to eliminate a cat(the manifold and cat were one piece), so all i had was one cat and a straight threw muffler. sounded like an angry bumble bee, lol, but then put a secondary muffler/resinator before the cat and it took car of it. now this may not apply to the v6 since they have dual mufflers, but just a heads up. you'll love the power you gain, but getting there can be a headache.

if you're going to headers on the car what you'll have to do is put a single cat after both header, then extend o2 sensor wires for upstream and down stream and install sensors before and after cat cause you will have cat effi. codes/dtc.

I just put a header on my 4cyl and i did what madindian1 said with the wires and it worked out fine and the header was even made by OBX. So go for it
