Hey folks, Newbie here. Just bought a 2007 Sonata SE in "deep water blue" and so far we love the car. It's in the shop right now getting 5% tint all the way around and getting detailed. A little about myself. I'm 48 years old, male, married w/ 2 teenage step-daughters still living at home. The Sonata is basically the wife's car, but I drive it whenever we go anywhere as a family. Plus, I'm the "car enthusiast" of the family. Any upgrades or accessories will be from me as the wife just doesn't get too excited about vehicles. I guess that's good for me, as I can do what I want to to them. ;) I personally drive a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 4x4. I love my truck, but this Sonata makes me jealous. I'm a moderator on the largest Colorado vehicle site there is (don't know if I can mention it's name here, so I won't) and have over 14,000 posts there. So while I'm not new to forums, I am to the whole Hyundai thing. I'm impressed with the car beyond any I've ever owned and hope it will be a good one for us. I hope to learn a lot about them here, and it seems I will. If anyone has any questions or advise for me, don't hesitate to PM me. Thanks! Danny

The one bit of advice is (assuming it's an AT), when you get the transmission serviced, don't use anything but SP-III AT fluid. It is generally only available at Hyundai, Kia and Mitsubishi dealers. All the AT failures I've heard of on Hyundais are either blatant abuse like neutral drops, or failure to do on-time service with the correct fluid. Other than that, you should be fine. Hyundais have come a long way. I never bought a foreign nameplate before picking up my Elantra in 05. I did a lot of research and it was definitely the best car for the money. It's been great so far.

DooHickie is telling it like it is about that trans fluid, my mechanic and friend is a Master Tech at my dealership and tells me stories of the trans problems useing other products all the time, plus its a way for the dealer to have a way out if you mess up your trans by useing something other than approved products...
