CAN A 2006 SONATA ALCOHOL?

gbono2 -> CAN A 2006 SONATA ALCOHOL? (5/2/2007 6:10:53 PM)

Hi Everyone

I was recently on a 2600 mile trip in my Sonata.  The further west I drove the more stations I encountered selling a gasoline/alcohol mix.  What is the max. amount if any the 3.3l v6 engine can safely burn without any problems?

Unless it is designated a Flex Fuel Vehicle (and I don't think any Hyundais are), the highest alcohol concentration you should use is 10% ethanol (E10).  Do NOT use E85 (85% ethanol) in your Sonata.

Neither one of my 2 sonata's take anything but regular fuel...

when driving west make sure you ask station attendent which pumps contain what amount of ethanol, some station out west may have pumps dispensing different amounts of ethenol, don't trust  the label on the pumps. most commercial gas stations are only checked for accuracy about once every two years.  as wheelbrocker stated avoid e85 altogether you will due serious damage to your engine and it aint covered under your warranty!!!
