mahout -> RE: braking vibrations and clunking (8/20/2007 4:09:10 PM)

Clunking noise is not the brakes but shimmying under braking is likely warped rotors (or as some want to say caused by brake residue on rotors). The dealer should inspect and true the rotors. The clunking noise is only heard by some owners. Our one customer with the 'problem' was cured by tightening all suspension bolts and checking the shock absorber travel limiting plug. There is another potential cause, however, and that is the internal piston is loose on the piston rod. The shocks on the rear are very sloppy and allows way too much motion in pursuit of smooth riding. In fact they are so weak that increasing jounce considerably still leaves a 'mama-approved' ride.
