First of all I hope that you guys can help me. Long story short, Diagnosis is that I am in need of a Brake Proportioning Valve. I took my car into a mechanic and he changed the master cylinder, now he says that I am in need of the proportioning valve. " Flash back to what happend, Brother changed the back brakes and he could not get any fluid to the back drivers side, brake. I drove the car for a bit then eventually I had no brakes, brakes would pump but then go to the floor. I took the car in and he said it was the master cylinder, Well, he then told me that he thinks that the proportioning valve was bad to. ** which i think it was all a long** He even told me to drive it, give it a couple days to see if it would blow out. Well low and behold I have no brakes again, and its acting the same way but worse! I am a women I know nothing.. Thanks to these sites I find things out.. Well, Now I am in need of this valve, He says that I can only get it from Hyundai. 195.00. I called him today and told him that I drove the vehicle as he said to do,, and the brakes gave out. An expert told me " he should have never told me to drive that car" which I agree. I do not believe it was the cylinder but I have no proof now. I did not ask for the cylinder back. Can anyone tell me what I should do? Hyundai elentra 2000 , does not have ABS. Cylinders were changed and brakes, now the master cylinder. Can I get this elsewhere on the net?? I can't find it anywhere, and the description that I am giving you of my problem does not sound like the valve? Should this valve have come with the master cylinder?

Like you description of this mechanic.. who knows! I think that the best thing to do is to go right to a diffrent mechanic. He said that the valve was bad and that he tried to blow it out. Does that sound like it is defective? In other words does it sound like he tested it? Also Moonz, one more, now after I did pick up the car, I was able to drive it for a bit, probably since he bled them, once the fluid was gone and i got the air to the peddle, that is when it quit? I to question the valve since I have been reading on this,, but my brother thought that it was it to,, I informed the mechanic about the brakes not bleeding in the back, but he went straight to the cylinder, replacing that. I think then he could not bleed it and then tested that valve. Error is human unfortunetly I paid for it.
