Hi,

I have a 2000 Elantra. The car has problems with loosing power when I think it reaches the 4th gear. Just when the car hits about 70KM/Hr the car looser power as if the transmission is disconnected. This happens at most times but sometiems does not. When I turn the Overdrive button off, the car runs fine, but I think runs at a higher RPM but lower gear.

If any one can help with some suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi ,

It sounds as if the vehicle is simply going into top gear.

When the revs and load are right the vehicle will lock up the torque convertor. Revs will drop.

Do you lose drive altogether or do the revs just drop?

If it just revving lower then you have no problem, it's just how the automatic 'box works.

Hoping this helps.

Cheers,

Andrew
