I'm not familiar with the Sonata, but I ran some wires from the engine compartment to the passenger compartment of the Elantra by removing the front left fender liner, running a wire from the area near the battery/fuse box in the engine compartment, into the fender, then into the body near the front left door hinge. There is a large harness bundle that goes in there; if the Sonata is like the Elantra, you can poke through the boot with your wire and tape it off good with electrical tape. The wire comes through on the inside near the driver's foot rest. I wrote a guide to installing fog lights in the Elantra.
