tarpan -> Horrible dealer expirience (5/31/2007 9:14:35 PM)

Hi guys, I'm a new Hyundai owner. This car is my first Hyundai and most likely the last one. I always believed that Hyundai is a real deal, a good value for the money. Recently I had to purchase another vehicle for my wife, so looked at Hyundai Tucson. It looked (and still does) superior for me compared to Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRV. I ended up buying used 2005 Tucson at official Hyundai dealership (Lia Hyundai at Enfield, CT). What have happened next I can not describe as a pleasant experience. 1) The car had an open recall (driver's airbag). The dealer did not do anything about it until I especially asked him to do the recall. He said that they did not know about the recall until I told them. Official dealer knows about recalls only from customers??? 2) At the time of test drive I've asked the dealer about Carfax report for the car. He has promised me that. I did not got the report same day because some computer problems or similar. I have put a $500 deposit down. Couple days later I got the report (Autocheck) from the dealer and Carfax report on my own. My report shows that the car has been in an accident. The report from dealer is surprisely clean! Ok, let's say it's just a coincidence. 3) The car has a hard cargo cover in the truck with about 10 inches long tie hanging from the it. The tie ends with a plastic hook. It all looks genuine Hyundai. I still don't know what is the purpose of the hook. The salesman did not know. After couple minutes of trying to hook up the hook to something, he gave up and said that "it's probably just a random hook". Again, that is official Hyundai dealer. 4) The day before pick up the car, I spoke with the salesman, he told me "we will clean the car, fill up the tank... etc". When I picked up the car, the fuel tank was 1/4 full (enough to reach a gas station). Nice, ah? 5) The CD player did not work from beginning. My wife came to the dealership to fix it. It took about 1 hour. 40 minutes of 1 hour nobody even approached the car. After they finally looked at the CD player, they said "Yea, it's broken. We have to order another one. Come back in 3 weeks." Like she has nothing better to do then drive here and there. 6) (Ooo,You will like this one) At the time of test drive the car had a nice Hyundai floor mats, partially carpet, partially plastic or rubber, perfect fit, with Hyundai logos, etc . When I came to pick the car up, the mats have ... disappeared. The salesman looked around and came back with an explanation that "the guy who cleaned the car probably took them out and forgot to put them back, but he already left and I can not find them. I'll ask him tomorrow and give you a call..." Ok, not a big deal, I took the car without the mats. Next day - no call. One more day - nothing happens. Couple days later I've called myself. The explanation is kind of nice: "You know, we can not find them. probably somebody took them...". Ha? But that is not all. Check with out: "You know we sell this car to you so cheap, we even lost money on this car, we can not provide you another mats!!!". I started to "heat up" and complain. He promised to give me another ones. Fine. Next day my wife went to the dealership to fix the CD player, and he gave her the mats. New ones. Nice. From a dollar store across the street!!! No, really, they were not genuine Hyundai mats but those "generic fit" mats, who fit all vehicle but really do not fit any of them. The cheapest mats possible. You can not buy such crap even in Walmart. And sure the explanation is "... You know we sell this car to you so cheap, we even lost money on this car, we can not provide you Hyundai mats. They are expensive, about $100 and
