I had a dealer-installed CC put on my 95 Escort. They attached the stem to the steering column shroud; drilled a hole through the plastic and that was it. It still works after 120,000 miles (except for a short time when I had a vacuum leak that affected several other things).

I want to take a moment to say Thank You to all that responded to my questions.
Unfortunately, we found that the Accent did not meet my Mother's needs, and several dealers we found either did not have the car in the right color or the right equipment, or were impossible to deal with. The main killer was the fact the Accent was not available as a 5-door. We ended up purchasing a 2007 Pontiac Vibe, which is essentially a Toyota Matrix rebadged. The dealer was more than willing to work with us. Let me just say the price was within $2000 of the Accent we looked at.
My opinion is that Hyundai/Kia is producing vehicles that, overall, are well-designed, and have good quality. I would not have considered Hyundai at all ten years ago. Also, Hyundai, as well as Kia, is still regarded as a "secondary" line by many area dealerships as far as sales and service go. However, as time goes on, hopefully this will change.
