I have a 2001 Tiburon. I'm not sure if this is the same with other tibs, but i found that my car has two catalytic converters. Its a california made car. 5 speed. 2.0 DOHC. I think this slows the car way down. I want some advice on how to build my engine better. I was thinking boosting or supercharging but I know they can be difficult to find or expensive. Would it be a good idea to buy a new exhaust system so I can get rid of having two cats. Again i feel like that slows the car way down.

The 2.0 liter engine is known as the Beta. Turbos are way out of my league, but I know Alpine makes a turbo for the Beta.

since you live in cali i'm not sure if its a good idea to eliminate a cat. the one cat is part of the exhaust manifold, and there is another about mid way in the exhaust. this is gonna take you some time and some enginieering if you dont' want to take it to a shop, but i'll walk you threw it so you have an idea of what to do. to keep it nice and legal get yourself a header(if you buy cheap it will yeild the same results, but you may have to do some modifacations to make it work, so if your good with your hands you'll have no problems), then from the header flange, the first flang , put a cat there, but you should buy one with a o2 sensor on the cat. then the down pipe provided will go on the end of the cat and there should be an 02 bung on that part. then you'll have to run the rest to hook up to the exhuast. keep in mind,,you'll have to eliminate a lot pipe to get to work and may have to move the second cat down. but if being legal isn't a problem, just buy a header and unless someone has done work to it before, its a simple bolt on install. if you have a hard time understanding this, just let me know and i could make a diagram for you.
