I did not like the Outlander as the interior was too stiff. At 60 mph, I made a sudden lane change, on purpose, and the car was way too responsive. I later found that tip over rate was higher for the Outlander. I also opted gor the 3rd row seats. The Mitsubishi's seats were a joke. Cardboard stiff and only a small child could sit in it. TheS.F had a more stable lane change response, smoother and a softer interior. The third seat, which may not be a point of interest, is comfortable enough for a medium to small adult. At 5-9/160 lb I felt comfortable on an extended cruise. I just like the looks and feel of the S.F. a lot better over the Outlander. I also got a better deal on the S.F.

I test drove them both and ended up with the Santa Fe. Biggest selling point was the a/c. We waited until it was really hot out to start shopping and made sure we drove cars that were sitting in the sun most of the day. The Santa Fe cooled the fastest and those vents in the door pillars made it even that much better. The Outlander was almost as good, but no rear vents. (side note the RAV4 was dismal at best at cooling).

The inside of the Santa Fe was nicer looking and the ride is very quiet and smooth compared to the Outlander.

Also, the deal was below invoice - I know, they got us somewhere, but that's the game

I have to agree with the other the outlander was disapointing for me the driuving position was way off as I am just over 6'1".  The interior seem to have been designed for a 19 year old consumer with a very large sub in the back that take away from the cargo space.  I found the ride was stiff and translate a lot of road defect back to the vehicle.

Hope that helps you.
