2006 Sonata shift oddity

mepjap65 -> 2006 Sonata shift oddity (7/24/2007 4:21:42 PM)

I recently purchased a 2006 Sonata V6, pre-owned with around 28000 miles. It seems like a nice, dependable car (I bought it primarily for my wife to use). One thing about its driving characteristic seems unusual, however, and I would like to know if it's common with this year/model; if anyone else has experienced this or if it might be a transmission problem. When accelerating from a stop at a steady increase in speed, the shift from 1st to 2nd seems to "lag", almost like there's a noticible pause between shifts and for a brief second the car feels like it deccelerates before accelerating again. The sensation is very slight and hard to really describe accurately, but it's there, enough to be noticed. I heard that these cars have throttle-by-wire and I don't know if that has any relation to what I'm describing. Does anyone have any ideas or comments?

Thanks

I have a 07' and I noticed the same thing. It doesn't happen all the time. They say nothing comes up as being wrong. Have you had it checked?

I have the same problem. When I first brought the car to the dealer, they told me that they would reset the shifting memory. Did nothing. Problem is still the same. Lags from 1st to 2nd on occation. Vehicle is scheduled to go back in for the 2nd. time but I doubt anything will be done to correct the problem.

My 2007 4 cycl Sonata has the same lag issue when shifting into 2nd gear.  It seems to happen when it is cold.  i do not seem to notice as much when the engine & trany is warm.  I have not mentioned it to the dealer but plan to on my next visit.  Someone posted on another forum that a TSB exist but I have not found it. Does anyone know what the TSB # is for this issue?
