Just picked up an 05 Tib GT 5 speed, only 9600 miles when I picked it up. It seems really awesome so far but a couple things bug the crap outta me. Here's the only one I haven't corrected:
                Why on earth do the RPM's "hang" between shifts....for that matter they hang even when in neutral? You rev that puppy and it takes awhile to come back to idle.  It's annoying to me and I'd like to eliminate it. A knowlegeable guy posted some info about being an emissions thing and some info how to correct the problem on a Kia,  another guy told me a performance chip would eliminate it. Somebody help me out here. These cars ain't a smallblock Chevy and I'm kinda lost.

It's done for emission reduction reasons.  It's the idle air control and there is a way to fix it (see post #7 by Dookickie ):

Yeah, I've seen that post, but the engines are different. I may just dig in and give it a try. After all it was Doohickie who gave me a decent clutch.

It doesn't matter that the engines are different.  They both use a throttle body with an IAC.
