I have a 2000 Tiburon which I've had about a year and a half. The car was in pretty good condition when I bought it, but recently things have started to go wrong. My main problem is that the car is consistently running hot. Once the engine starts running, it only takes a few minutes of driving before the gauge is teetering on the red. I've been running with the heat ON FULL BLAST in the middle of summer, just to save it from actually overheating. I've checked the antifreeze and fans, and both seem to be fine. Could it be the thermostat or could it be something bigger?? I've heard that I might just need to flush the system... any ideas?

Well that sounds like a thermostat, but is their any coolant seeping from the water pump area. I would check the water pump, change the thermostat, and refill cooling system and give it a try. this happens whenyou are driving or just sitting, if only when sitting I would check to see if cooling fans come on, but if when driving check the first stuff I said

I have the same problem and I verified that the Cooling Fans do not activate
unless the Aircon is ON. Yet with the Aicon in the ON mode both cooling fans
spin very slow.

My suspicion is an electrical fault, temp sending unit, resistive relay contacts, etc.

Did you get you can fixed? If so what was the problem ?
