I am working on my 03 accent, its the DOHC 1.6 auto. It will not fire up, just cranks and cranks. Did a compression test 180-160 all around, timing belt is new and looks good, has fuel pressure, has spark, fuel pump sounds good. Replaced the crank positioning sensor, what next?

 

Did you do a code scan? That's the first thing to do in this situation.

 

Yea ran the codes, but they got erased when I pulled the + terminal previously. No codes are there now, the tester indicated the ecu has not ran all its test's (no way to now that the engine will not start).

 

Camshaft position sensor controls fuel injector valves. I'm willing to bet that's the problem, as you have spark (crank sensor) and fuel pressure.

A hard lesson learned: Pull the codes first and write them down.
