2018 Elantra SE OBD II Scan at Autozone Showed Crankshaft Sensor B Fault
Two weeks ago had to replace the battery. For about a week prior to that, the car was slow in starting. Eventually it wouldn't start, but on turning off everything inside (radio, fans, etc.) got it to start. Auto Zone checked the battery - it was bad. Replaced it free under battery warranty.
Yesterday, check engine light came on. Scan at Autozone showed Crankshaft Position Sensor B.
Tried disconnecting battery, waiting 30 minutes, reconnect. Car started without engine light staying on, but after about a minute the engine light returned. Had it scanned again at Autozone: showed Crankshaft Position Sensor B.
There are no symptoms such as hard to start, difficulty cranking, or anything while driving or idling. I've read that sometimes the code showing fault with this sensor can result from some other problem, not necessarily the sensor.
It would be great if I can just replace this sensor. However, I don't want to miss the real problem if it's something else.
