Default 98 Accent 150i cutting out

HI

I have the following problem with my 98 Accent 150i. I will run nicely for a while and then all of a sudden cut out. When trying to start it agian, the engine turns but doesn't want to start. The I wait for about 5-10 minutes and then it would start agian without any problems. Then it will run nicely for a while and then cut out agian. This is temprature related as it does that any time at any place, cold engine ot hot.

Can it be electrical, either ignition or computer, or can it be fuel. I doubt that it is fuel as the car does'n jerk, it just dies immediatly.
The check engine light does not come on to say that anything in the engine might be wrong. Can it be the electronic fuel injection?

Please help

This may very well be a problem wit the fuel delivery system. Though it may be the injectors it may also be a problem with wiring to the fuel pump, you may have a short somewhere, I would say the electrical system is at the root of the problem.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is electrical as there is fuel comming through and no fire on the spark plugs. The tech at the workshops says that it might be the coil, computer or a TDC sensor. This car cutts out when stopping at robots.
thx

No problem. That makes sense. I never thought of the coil, that is probably it.

HI

The tech has managed to find the problem. It ended up being the cranck angle sensor causing the problem. They changes the sensor and it now runs fine agian. This sensor is located just above the flyweel where the engine and gearbox connect at the exhaust manifold side.

The following symtoms might tell you that it can be this sensor.
1. Engine will only cut out when in process of slowing down for a traffic light(when the car is almost at standstill), OR when already standing still and engine idling.
You will find that your allways getting stuck at intersections when this happens.
2. The car will then take anything between 5-30 min before starting.
3. The problem is very intermittend.

I have a friend who's Huyndai did exactly the same thing at it ended up being the same problem.
Please have the repair shop look at this before they want to blame the computer.
