Default Larger filter for a 2001 Elantra 2.0 motor

I went to the store to get a filter and it was $6+ and REAL small.
In the past I have used larger filters on cars and it worked out. That is ones that have the same base and turn on the threads.

Anyone else do this? What size fits on the 2.0 motor
Thanks

Either will fit. I've used both sizes on on my Tib V6and my Tucson V6 The smaller one is what's called for on my Tib but the larger one fits fine. The 2.0 Beta and 2.7 Delta use the same filters.

Part numbers:

Purolator:
- small = L14612
- large = L14459

AC:
- small = PF1237
- large = PF1127

NovaResource - I am shocked that you did not suggest using (and only using) the Hyundai Genuine filter. Are you mellowing out on us?

Well I bought and installed the L14459 Pur One filter.
Are you sure this is the larger one???

I need to check the other one for size.
Thanks

What about
PL14458 or PL24458

After reading
http://www.elantraclub.com/forum/ind...&hl=oil+filter

Provided I get the tape measure out and make sure there is enough clearance for motor movement.
There is so much stuff to read. I now am hack sawing my filter apart to see how they are made since most of the photos are 5 + years old.

Thanks

LOL! I didn't have the part numbers for the 2 Hyundai filters so I left them out. Plus, I think AC and Purolator are every bit as good as the Hyundai filters. I just wouldn't trust too many others.

Someone has already done that for you. Go to:

http://www.knizefamily.net/minimopar...ers/index.html

Not specific for Hyundai filters, but a good comparison of manufacturers and the various brands they supply. FYI, take note of the Mann filter looked at in the German Filter test. This filter is manufactured by Mann+Hummel, a very large German filter manufacturer known to produce high end product.

While changing the oil in my Sonata this past weekend, I thought I would take a close look at the markings on the Hyundai cartridge I had purchased at the dealership. On one end it was stamped "Made in Korea by the Dongwoo Comp.". If you google "dongwoo filters", you come up with the site:

http://www.dwfilter.co.kr/

Select the english version of the web site and scroll to the bottom. You come up with the full company name....

If Hyundai Genuine filters are made by Mann+Hummel, then they are as good as any filter on the market and a very good buy for the money.
