Default License plate light wiring issue

Has anybody had a problem with their license plate light wiring? I have swapped these socket from the non working side to the other tried different bulbs checked the fuse . One side works one doesn't it's a 2008 Hyundai accent hatch and I need those lights for Ontario safety. I was also wondering if it is a wire break and I can't find it would it be safe to splice into the wire for the working bulb

It does help a bit ya thanks for that I was struggling with Google trying to find those specific diagrams. Are you able to locate the license plate lights on that diagram ? I've been trying but the words are kinda pixelated . I'm guessing they would probably call it number plate light or something different

If one side works and the other doesn't, and you've tried different bulbs and checked the fuse, it's likely a wiring issue. A common problem is a break or short in the wiring.

You can use a multimeter to check for continuity in the wires leading to the non-working side. If you can't find the break, splicing into the wire from the working side can be a temporary fix, but it's better to repair the wiring properly. Ensure any splice is done securely and insulated well to prevent future issues. For a long-term solution, tracing and repairing the original wire would be the best approach.

Thank you for the reassurance on that I did check the non working side and I had zero voltage I traced the wire back pretty far but could not find the break . I even stripped small section of coating off it at numerous spots to see if I could get a voltage reading but there was nothing. As a temp fix I did like you said and spliced into the working side with a military splice and some solder and used heat shrink to cap off the non working side wires. It will at least get through safety then I will investigate further

Got it! It sounds like you've taken a careful and effective approach to resolving the issue. Checking for voltage along the wire and then using a military splice with solder and heat shrink to connect to the working side is a good, reliable temporary fix. This should get both license plate lights working properly for now.

Once you've had time to look into the problem further, you might consider running a new wire from the power source if you still can't locate the break in the original wiring. For now, though, your approach should work well. If you have any more questions or run into any other issues, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck with everything!
