Oil Filter Upsize?? '02 Santa Fe

I have an '02 Sante Fe 2.7L that takes that little tiny stock filter.
The largest filter I have found is the ProLine (made by Purolator) #ppl-14459. While it is larger than the one that came with it, it is about the size of the filter on my lawn mower.... )o;
Is there a larger sized filter I can use??
TIA
Dean.

If you go with something else, make sure it meets the OEM specs for the filter. Purolator is very good about matching OEM specs, and they list the following:

Anti-Drain Back Valve: Yes
Relief Valve P.S.I.: 12-15

Those valve parameters are critical. For some Hyundai cars, the base is the same as for Honda cars, but the Honda specs differ (especially the relief valve). Don't assume that just because the filter has a M20x1.5spin-on base, that isappropriate for your Hyundai!

There is actually a TSB about aftermarket oil filters causing engine knock in Hyundais. I think the reason for this is that many oil shops just use what fits and the Honda filters will fit Hyundai engines, even though they can cause harm to them. The relief valve pressure for the Honda CRV filter, for instance is 14-18 P.S.I. This means that the bypass might not kick in until more than the 15 P.S.I. max pressure required by Hyundai engines meaning that under high oil demand situations oil starvation can occur.

My personal experience is that you are best to stick with OEM filters, whether domestic or import. I have seen knock issues develop on both domestic and import vehicles which disappeared after changing back to an OEM filter.
