We recently had our 2003 Sonata in for service and the mechanic had to replace the front axle (cracked). But, when he replaced the axle, he failed to put the right sized bolts in correctly (the shorter bolts were installed where the longer bolts should have been) resulting in damage to the rotor. The mechanic replaced the axle with a new one, and replaced the rotor at his cost. NOW, less than a week later, the power steering rack has to be replaced because the seals started leaking. Could this in any way be related to the mistake made with the axle? Almost 2,000 in the hole and frustrated.

 

Where did you take it for service? A dealer or a private mechanic?

 

We took it to a private mechanic.

 

I'd find another mechanic.
