Default Rear wheel bearing assembly removal

I have the whole thing apart but can not get the (emergency) brake plate off. Do I need to press it off and press on the new one.
Small detail; 2001 XG-300

Not sure what you mean by the "emergency brake plate".

Jsinton - Thanks so much for the diagram. It was the brake assembly that I could not break off. I finally got it with my adjustment hammer. lol It's all good now. I had no choice but to whack away at it even though I almost broke the brake assembly. Thanks again.
